You might be wondering why do Australian natives need special treatment when they gloat about being hardy? Well, Australian native plants have adapted over time to suit the naturally low in phosphorus soil. When phosphorus (found in regular potting mix, soil and fertiliser) is applied to some native plants they readily absorb it, creating an excess of phosphorus this, in turn, can turn gulp... kill them!
